was the first introduction and release of the Infamy system. It included 5 infamy levels set into 2 tiered systems with 2 more tiers locked and a final 14th infamy level at the top.
The first infamy
(I-0) was much like your first skill point into any tree, it unlocked the next tier of infamy. This infamy level also increased your XP bonus to 5%, increased your infamous drop rate to 1.4% (from 0.7%) and reduced the cash cost of all skill points by 25%. This infamy level also added The Heat sunglasses as an unlockable mask.
The 2nd tier of infamy
(II-0 through V-100) added a 5% skill boost for each level as well. They also had some minor boosts however to their respected tree. Each awarded a 10% skill point reduction to meet the tier requirements in that respective tree. For example, if you were infamy II-0 and put that 2nd infamy point in the Mastermind side, you would be able to spec a tier 6 skill after only spending 36 points, instead of the original 40.
After fugitive was added they granted that 10% skill point reduction to the Fugitive tree so long as you had infamy II-0 no matter what tree you spent it in.
This tier also had a mask, pattern, and material unlock for each Mastermind, Enforcer, Technician, and Ghost.
Was just released this week, and removed the old tier system including the capped 14 infamy levels. The new max infamy is now 25. After unlocking the first 5 infamy levels you can start to branch out into any of the new infamies. They are split into 2 different types now. One type only grants a 10% XP boost and nothing else. The other grants a 7.5% XP boost as well as a mask, pattern, and material.
The public seems to be majority upset with this at the moment for a multitude of reasons. One is that there are 20 whole new levels to grind, which is a bit much considering we have been waiting for more than a year now after the first release of infamy which was only 5 levels.
Another complaint is that these new infamy levels offer no in game boost whatsoever, the bonus of XP is a bit redundant seeing as the only benefit to going infamy now (besides the masks) is a boost which helps you grind more, for more xp grinding boosts.
One other common complaint is that after a whole year (and much hype) due to the fact that there are indeed no new bonuses to change the meta, and that there are only 8 added masks, yet we have 20 new infamy levels, that this whole Infamy release seemed rushed, with little to no thought put into it.
My personal opinion is that I enjoy it, new content is new content. I would have enjoyed having some more minor bonuses to help change builds, and in game meta. But overall I don't think it was as bad a release as many in this community claim.
