I'm a nonbinary person who uses neopronouns, AMA!!

I imagine random people who refer to you as an ‘it’ would be doing so to dehumanise you, not because they are unsure of your gender - most people don’t use ‘it’ to refer to human beings, regardless of whether they’re unsure of someone’s gender or not. I personally don’t know how someone could be comfortable being referred to as an ‘it’, but you are comfortable with that, so I will not argue with you about it.

I also don’t see the purpose of having multiple sets of pronouns/using them to express yourself, since pronouns are simply tools in language to identify what kind of person you are talking about (if they’re male or female, if you’re talking about multiple people, if their gender is unknown, et cetera). It can also get confusing if people are using different pronouns to refer to you. For example, if two people are talking about you (one person using ‘it/its’ pronouns and the other person using ‘he/him’ pronouns), it can be confusing to know who/what you’re talking about.

Nevertheless, thank you for offering your perspective on this, even though we may not agree. I have three more questions for you, if you are still interested in answering questions:

  1. Do you think gender dysphoria is required to be trans?

  2. Do you think being trans is a mental illness/medical condition?

  3. Do you think more people are becoming anti-trans due to neopronoun users, non-binary/xenogender people, and people saying they are trans without having gender dysphoria?
