"I'm not being a Capcom fanboy!"

man i read your post like five times and i'm still confused as shit. not sure if it's the fact that i conked my head a shitload as a child or me being tired.

i feel like this post alone is pretty shit so i'm just gonna say that smash is pretty much destined to die. nothing about it is sustainable. since melee, the series has been purposefully drained of competitively interesting mechanics in an effort to fit the more marketable image of a casual party game so there will never be a true successor to melee. people still try to play the most recent smash for some reason but, as evident with brawl, they'll probably just move onto the most recent release to follow the (unwarranted) hype and money and playerbase.

so you basically have the melee community that is dependent on controllers from a console generation from over a decade ago + CRTs and a bunch of glorified casuals that play games purposefully designed to be shit in a competitive environment. eventually, melee is going to be too old and stale to reinvigorate and smash will either get discontinued since the director is sick of it or the game will just become such shit not even smash 4 casuals will want to touch it in tournaments.
