I'd get a second opinion. I don't know your stats, I honestly don't think it matters, because from what you're saying, i can't imagine this is something you'll be able to tolerate for very long, and anything you lose, you'll gain back plus some.
I know there are, inexplicably, a number of (alleged) medical professionals out there who think weight loss is just a matter of willpower and self-denial, and fail to recognize real mental and lifestyle challenges. Pretty sure those people are assholes.
Sometimes all of us, at some point, need some tough love. This isn't that; it's just setting you up for failure down the line, which will double down any mental/emotional issues you have around your body/food/weight loss.
Go to another dietician, or twelve, until you find one who can work with you as you are, in a way that will help shift your lifestyle, not just drop pounds.
*Advice predicated on the assumption that you're "regular" obese/overweight, and not going to qualify for a weight related TLC show at the moment. If that's not correct, then I have no idea what I'm talking about.
