I'm paying thousands for dental work now because I delayed getting something basic fixed.

I just wanted to make a suggestion. If you can wait 6 months (this is usually how long it takes for coverage to start after enrollment) it's cheaper to get dental insurance if you know you have issues you'll need to address soon than to pay out of pocket for the work. The average cost of dental insurance in the US is only about $360 a year. All of your preventative care will be 100% covered as well.

Dental insurance always works out cheaper than paying out of pocket, and it's relatively inexpensive compared to regular health insurance. The recommended two routine cleanings and checks ups a year would cost more than the total price you for insurance if you had to pay out of pocket.
