I'm "Peter Pan" because I get to do what I want VS my Stepfather

When I say I COULD live on my own, I mean mature wise. Money wise? No. Where I live, I've looked around and it would cost me almost 900+ a month. Even in the cheapest place. Even with 15/h it would just be cutting it close. Living on my own with the money? I could manage, living with little to no money? Exactly.

But why does it make me immature? You do know that this is an American thing right? In almost every other culture, this is actually abnormal. The only reason people move out is because it's the "American dream" to own all those things like a house, a car, have a wife/huband and or kids and so on. Realistically, why does any of that matter?
