I'm a seizure doc- AMA (again!)

First, thank you for your invaluable service. I'm curious if you have any thoughts on distinct episode ... For the 24 year duration of my 34 year old brother's intractable epilepsy he has had neither recent nor distant memory (presumably due to the meds). No one ever heard him reference a person, place, or event from his childhood. He's a complete blank around talk of family life over the past couple decades. Then yesterday - out of nowhere - he experienced two completely new things simultaneously which together completely debilitated him for about 40 hours: (1) overwhelming persistent (seamless) deja vu sensation, and (2) a tidal wave of childhood "memories". He never lost consciousness throughout this marathon episode (seizure?), in fact he couldn't sleep at all. For a quarter century he has had monthly, weekly, or daily seizures that, while they can vary from grand mal to whatever you call the ones where you lose consciousness but maintain your composure (for lack of better words). Now, all of the sudden he is completely self-aware (almost more focused/attentive) than I've ever seen him, but can do nothing but ask me if I remember when we were little and our dad defended my brother in court against accusations he was demon-possessed (never happened). The deja vu and his obsession with the "memories" completely took over my brother all day and all night and until, after being unable to reach his neurologist, I took him to the ER. The ER doc said CT and blood work were normal and that my brother was likely having a psychological issue - bipolar, manic, etc. and that he believed my brother's thoughts had nothing to do with epilepsy
