I'm the sole employee of a business and my boss announced huge changes I disagree with

I absolutely agree with you. The rental side of his business was just fine before I came along and it will be just fine long after I'm gone. I don't think that I am anything that's indispensable to this company, I just recognize myself as a very valuable asset.

What I was referring, I guess, to when I said that the franchise depends on me was that I am the only person capable of doing the job who is currently employed at the moment.

I have a meeting with him on Thursday morning. I have a job interview with another company Friday morning. My desire is to stay working at this company in the capacity that I currently am. I'm going to try to express that and see if there's a way we can work together to make that happen. If not there's always another option for me.

I guess I tend to confuse people treating me with the bare minimum of respect as friends, it is something that has burned me in the past. Regardless as to if I can find a way to stay with this company or if I have to move on, I'm going to have to reassess my professional relationships and not confuse them for friendships because of mutual respect.

Thank you for your very clear and good advice.
