I'm starting a fat logic experiment...

If you started the relationship with her overweight then you knew it wasn't going to get better. You sort of made your bed here right from the start.

If you don't like the way your counselor handles your issues in the marriage by spouting fat logic strawmen then tell your wife you want a new one. There's no point in going to a counselor that is going to be one sided in handling the marriage issues. It's rather the antithesis of counseling couples where compromises are supposed to be encouraged when possible; 'I'd like you to try to lose some weight' is hardly on par with 'I wish you'd regrow your blown off arm.'

If you think shaving might give her inspiration to lose weight, go for it. I doubt it would. I've liked all my male SOs to have facial hair but it never would have motivated me to do anything if they shaved and held the facial hair hostage over something I didn't want to do. But it's a beard; it can grow back if you like it and it doesn't work or it can stay gone forever if you want. Your face, your hair, do whatever makes you happy with it.

Finally this post is probably better suited for a fat rant Tuesday/Friday or wellness weekend post.
