I'm a straight white male, and I don't think I have privileges that are not afforded to minorities.

But all the main leaders of the revolution were rich (ex)-British people though. Thus why the main point of contention was the fact that the colonies didn't have any representation in Parliament, despite having to pay taxes (despite the fact that the British had paid for their troops to be sent to defend the colonies from the French and Native forces, even though the colonies had enjoyed a long period of owing nothing to England at all).

They ended up doing a very good job of uniting everyone with convincing rhetoric by saying that the citizens were not part of the countries they came from, that they're American. All the further propaganda like JOIN, or DIE and even calling the newly formed nation the United States all did a good job of erasing a lot of those boundaries.

Unfortunately though, black people didn't get that luxury because, at the time, they were mostly just...items for the rich to use. Had slavery never been a thing in the US, and indentured servitude had stayed the norm...history would have been very different. That said, it's hard to say how many black people would have ever come to North America if it weren't for slavery, so perhaps the racism would still be just as institutionalized because they would be even more of a minority.
