This is nonsense and not anything that someone actually trained as a counselor or psychologist would say. Just fake motivational trite.

No one is required to deal with mental illness. We all have different breaking points, and the idea that you can't give up on someone because they have a mental illness without feeling bad is crap.

There are plenty of great people who suffer from mental illness, and there are others simply do not want to get better, who are extremely violent and abusive, who abuse substances, who commit crimes. You should feel okay removing those people from your life if they cause you or your loved ones undo harm.

I say this as someone who has dealt with my own struggle for many years, and was at one point not someone worth sticking with and could not be helped until I decided I wanted to be. I do not blame those who walked away from me nor do I think them sticking around would have helped. Today I'm happy to say that a different place now and can appreciate and value those who stick by me currently without dragging their lives down as I continue to improve my own life.

I've also seen mentally Ill people drag others down with them for years, even decades, and those people wish they had cut their losses sooner.
