That just how people who very kind or borderline too kind see themshelve. I meet some that i consider that (they bit rare) and they lack of pride or assertive personality. Even if they get hurt or insulted while they hate it, they never want to hurt back.

They first one to help you out when you in trouble but when they in trouble they just say they were fine don't want your help because they don't want to trouble you or being hassle for you. Just like Deku does in his solo arc.

Basically Kind people usually selfless and selfless people usually lack of self worth or self acknowledgement ("self" "less" get it ?) and in Deku case he was too kind and that was Deku biggest weakness. Only one thing that missing from people i know of that Deku did not have is they usually bit religious (even if bit agnostic about it) or like to do religious practice for example being buddhist monk or if muslim they do five prayer everyday but not the type fanatically forced their believe to you.
