Immigration via same-sex marriage to a US Citizen: How do I prove our relationship is real if we're not legally married elsewhere?

My closest friend is a US citizen. We met in a foreign country where I live now and have been in contact online for 5~6 years on a daily basis (we exchanged millions of online chat messages and hundreds of voice/video call hours over this period). We also meet whenever he comes for vacation.

I'm using the word 'friend' for lack of a better word. He and I are both males. We're not in a homosexual relationship and have never engaged in any (we're practically asexual), but we love each other more than anything. If we were living in the same country now, we would be living in the same apartment, supporting each other financially, and doing everything married couples do, with the exception of sexual intimacy since we're not interested in that.

We both feel that life is becoming increasingly intolerable for both of us due to the separation and, as I said, we're willing to do whatever it takes to live together as soon as possible. We simply can't even fathom living separately in the long run. It would be devastating for both of us.

We're wondering if I can be granted a visa/permanent residence to live in the US through same-sex marriage. Unfortunately, I live in a country where same-sex marriage is absolutely illegal and my life would be at risk if they found out we're married. Also, how do we prove our relationship is real? Do we even have to?

This is not a scheme to illegally get me a visa to the US (we're afraid our plans would be perceived as such).

P.S. To my understanding, the term 'same-sex' marriage is concerned only with the gender rather than sexual orientation or identity. I'm unsure if this is how the law perceives it so please correct me if I'm wrong.
