IMO, these two deserve each other...

It’s not as if ppl are upset that CIVIL WAR wasn’t verbatim civil war of the comix.

Because it followed and affected the MCU the same way the comics did. The thematic relevance of Civil War, when it came to the characters, was still there. The status quo shifted. Major changes to the universe we know were made. Relationships were destroyed.

If BW had come out before Sony’s Spider-Man, would anyone care about the change?

There'll always be a group of people who'll care about the changes made from source to screen. Its a unavoidable circumstance, to be critiqued in that sole matter. No matter what era you release a film in. So, yes and no. Depends what kinda audience you are. Changes that improve upon the source material it was based on, are very welcome as well.
