Most flavor doesn't necessarily mean best, so no I don't think we should drink 30C beer. But I do think that serving beer within the recommended temperature ranges is a good idea when doing a side by side taste comparison. At the very least the article should mention that the beer is stored and served well below normal temperatures, as I'm quite sure this affects both aging and taste.

I agree that the specifics of the effect of temperature on taste are not well defined, and that "numbing" is at best an oversimplification (though a common one), but I also think it's clear that temperature has an effect on flavor, so it should be delivered set within normal ranges for experiments like this.
