The Impossibility Of Creation From Nothing

Of course, even granting this doesn't kill creator gods, as multiple alternatives exist. Maybe the creator made the universe from something previously existing, or maybe we are all just a dream in the mind of a god. However, creation from nothing is certainly the mainstream view in certain religions, and I'll leave it as a puzzle for those who share my conclusion as to why.

Then you're not dealing with an ultimate God, but something more like a demiurge or Olympian God. The "Big Kahuna" has to necessarily exist, unlike all these mere contingent possibilities; a contingent "god" would have to be something caused, and not self sufficient.

BTW I had an interesting exchange with Bill Weld in that other thread.
