Independent college students with no parental assistance: What's your story?

If it is such a big deal to you, then you too should have enlisted. The people that get the GI Bill all went through the same thing. They all sacrificed the safety of their lives for the length of their contract. Whether they happen to be a cook or infantryman, they all get the same training. So yes, those that get the GI Bill do deserve it. Also, before the GI Bill, how many programs were available to help veterans transition back to civilian life? Do you know how hard it is getting a job after leaving the military? Not everyone wants to hire you, because you don't have 'real workplace experience'. And yes, everyone does have the same opportunity. Everyone that is sent to MEPS for in processing is initially on the same playing field so to speak. Also, how many benefits as a taxpayer do I provide for you? It is the same each way. You should look up some facts before you comment. Everyone that recieves the GI Bill deserves it, they need at least 90 days in active duty service. That qualifies in my eyes.
