Indian American community richest with median household income of $103,821

My family was not rich in the slightest when they immigrated here, they were like all the other village folk. You take their income and it would have been astronomically lower than those who are born in generational poverty here, people in India are not handed out food stamps/child support and any other social safety net that's given in the states. The biggest thing that baffles many immigrants I know? The fact that they come here from another country, in poverty. and they are able not only to become citizens of this country legally and outperform people here. Things like welfare or dependence on the government disgust many of the older folk I know, yet when you interview people with generational lineage in the states you get a different response. It's not hard to associate the problems of inner cities to the degenerate culture that's produced out of them. Few make it out, but you don't see most parents in them like those of immigrant kids telling them you need to be educated and a decent person.
