Indian Ocean Row 2017

Part 2 - 6th December 2016:

On Saturday I met the team properly for the first time in Bristol, it was a cold early morning and I'd just flown in from Poland and a night of travelling. We visited the local aquarium to bond over our fascination of sea horses (there's one that moves 5 feet per hour!). The two other guys are a bit older than me but clearly tap into the same vein of life, chilled and easy going, up for a laugh and a bit of hard work. In the first 15 minutes I knew I could spend 60+ days with them and not go psycho.

In my ignorance and excitement I hadn't realised that we didn't have a boat or any sponsorship yet. Small details... Our most immediate tasks are getting a sponsorship pack ready and to start hitting social media to gain a following.

My main role is attacking the media. It's actually a very tedious task and feels wholly disingenuous. OK there are some people with interesting Tweets or pictures but the fact is everyone has one goal: get more followers. Anyway I'm going on the 10% ratio and hitting it quite nicely so far.. following 1,400 and 148 followers. Anyone got some tips on good PR? I've been on it 5 days and I'm already tired of it.

That's about all the news at the moment.

P.S. I'd better appear half competent at my job.. @rowocean please follow for only 50% inane posts Insta: indianoceanrow thanks :)
