I have experienced Portlanders and Oregonians in general feel like victims way more than other people in the country.

While there was a pioneering spirit in Oregon when it was founded, life was very hard to settle, and like Montana, Wyoming and others like them, getting basic needs met was and is enough. The idea of an entrepreneurial spirit was a rare quality, not supported, not rewarded. So people have it ingrained in their being that they should just do what the boss, government, or pastor tells them and they are reclusive shut-in hermits for 9 months a year, and it shows in their personalities and habits.

Passive aggressiveness doesn't fly in most other places and people are direct with their thoughts and feelings.
