Infinite jest

Personally, I didn't enjoy it. I made it 250 pages deep before I lost interest. It wasn't so bad as to be unreadable, but it was so much work to lug around, flip for footnotes, keep track of... I don't know how many storylines and characters. And the payoff (my enjoyment of the book) was not enough to keep me reading.

Additionally, I watched interviews with Wallace and he points out that a lot of the positive reviews the book received came out before anyone had had enough time to read it. So some of the hype for this book seems to be artificial.

(Again, these are just my thoughts. I really enjoyed some of Wallace's short stories. I don't think he's a bad writer at all, I just didn't like Infinite Jest.)
