Bykofsky was a fucking hack of the lowest order; any fucking shit-brained-rat-pawed-aggrieved-white guy who infests this subreddit could write his columns without missing a beat.

He was a part of lowering the level of discourse in the city, and people like him are why we struggle to have serious conversations nationally. He was simply a schmuck with a typewriter and (eventually) a keyboard who understood that being reactionary and saying inflammatory shit would get him paid. He was a shitty writer who cared more about his filthy lucre than doing what was right or writing what was real.

Don't let decorum about how you should act at a funeral distract you from the fact that a much better writer was being completely honest, cleared eyed, and accurate about the recently deceased career. Just because he lost his job doesn't absolve him of his failures as a human, a writer, and a citizen. Saffron simply made that point crystal clear while establishing that she has the biggest balls in Philadelphia. Good for her and good riddance to bad rubbish.
