Ingress: the world around you is not what it seems...

Awesome! I go by Tundrasama in game (email: tundrasama (at) gmail (dot) com).

This may seem like a lot, but it will you get you up and going quickly -- there are also a lot of resources available online and at /r/ingress.

In Comm, you can tap a player's name to message them. 'All' will communicate to everyone at the radius you set, 'Faction' only to the team. I normally keep mind at 100km to keep an eye on the surrounding area. Keep in mind that even 'Faction' is compromised. It's generally used for welcoming new players, out of towners, discussing non-sensitive information, or spreading misinformation.

You'll want to use the Ingress Intel Map for viewing the area. I highly recommend getting the IITC conversion pack -- it loads faster than the vanilla version and has a lot of cool plug-ins for planning out operations and determining the most efficient way to gain levels and minimize effort. My S2 can't run the mobile version, but I'm pretty sure at least the S4 can -- unfortunately no version is yet available of the IITC plug-ins for iOS.

But really the point of the game is creating triangular Control Fields to earn our faction Mind Units. Control Fields are the fastest way to level quickly and are worth the same amount of points regardless of the size. There are simple ways to make complex fields to earn points faster.

There are 16 levels (as of now) in the game. Levels 1-5 can go pretty quickly, but every level the AP needed begins to double.

Here is a quick overview of some beginner tips:

*Glyph Hacking: long press the hack button to enter a memory game to gain more items per hack. At lower levels, there are fewer "glyphs". Once you do them enough, you'll start to recognize them and be able to handle them more easily. A Level 8 portal will have 5 -- very difficult to do perfectly.

*Attacking: long press fire button and release when moving ring is closest to cursor to gain up to 20% more damage.

*Deploying resonators: when deploying stand at max range away from portal to set resonators farthest apart for better deffense.

  • Ultra strikes: stand directly on the portal to take out mods (shields, turrets, etc.), can also be used on resonators...stand directly on resos to get best effect. The awesome part of these is on a highly defended portal u can take out the deffense mods before the enemy knows you are attacking (although they will be alerted when the mod is destroyed). But if you don't hit any resonators, they won't otherwise receive an alert.

*Very Rares: these actually are pretty rare (maybe 1/200 hacks, but it can very)

*Jarvis: flips a blue portal to green instantly.

*ADA: flips green portal blue instantly. (Viruses work on portals that are your level or lower)(1 hr cool down between use of viruses)(THESE ARE VERY RARE! USE WISELY)

*Keys: remember, when hacking a portal, you may or may not get a key. ~80% chance of getting a key if you do not have one. If you have a key in your inventory you can not hack another. Workaround: drop any keys you have to a portal before hacking it to get another then pick up any keys you have dropped before you leave. Linking to a portal requires a key to that portal and the key will be destroyed during linking. Thus the need for extra keys. Also recharging your portals from a distance requires the key to the portal.

*Links: Links CANNOT cross existing Links regardless of faction.

*Leveling: Linking and making control fields is fastest way to level up.

*If u ever need any help all u have to do is ask :)
