Injury has killed my marathon dream. Where do I go from here?

Have you seen a physical therapist? It’s never too early. Depending on your break, they can get you doing certain stretches or the ABC movements with your toes (spell the alphabet using your toe). Of course you can do these without seeing a PT but I’m not a doctor soooo.

Once you can be weight bearing, highly recommend single leg squats to make sure you have good mechanics before returning to full running. Get a PT or personal trainer to double check your proper form/biomechanics.

Once comfortable with single leg squat, practice loading from trailing leg to leading leg, mimicking that isolated movement of the stride. Making sure you have good biomechanics prior to diving back into running will be key to make sure you don’t aggravate other parts of your body if you’re overcompensating to protect a weak ankle.

You’ll be back in no time! And echoing what everyone else said about spin bike and aqua jogging. I had a little luck with stair master in a boot and less luck (but still some) with elliptical.
