I hate it when folks use God as some kind of stupid excuse to try to control others.. geez

Regardless of your own beliefs, have you tried getting her to actually backup her claim that it is sinful to get a piercing other than ears/nose? Use the Bible to prove her wrong- if she even reads it... clearly she has some control issues...

If she has her ears pierced, you can just call her out for being a hypocrite. I bet she’s more worried about her OWN image in case one of her friends sees your new piercing.

You can also tell her that there is no real evidence in the Bible (that she claims to read) of any piercing being against God. She might quote stuff like “your body is a temple”, which is really not really applicable here since this is just saying take care of yourself- and the worst a piercing can do is cause infection while it heals... another thing she might say is “you shouldn’t cut your body” which is actually in reference to people cutting themselves to shed blood for ritualistic purposes, and has nothing do do with a piece of jewelry.

In Ezekiel, God granted the Israelites jewelry for piercings. Also- an ear piercing in ancient Israel was also a sign of permanent servitude if someone wanted to. If a piercing in one location on a person is ok, logically speaking it would be ok elsewhere too. This kind of goes back to her own hypocrisy though

If she doesn’t back down from answers from a book she claims to know something about, then she’s just 100% insane. You can also tell her she is serving her own desire to control instead of God. There are whole sermons on this kind of crap.
