Inside Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous rollout - Jason Schreier

i think the release was a gamble: cdpr assumed more people would be playing on the series x and the ps5

the game's initial release date was april. the fate of the new consoles was still very much in limbo. there was a lot of speculation on the next gen consoles being delayed... what if they were delayed?

the game always was, and always will be designed for the ps4/xbox one, no matter what bullshit excuse they come out with. there is no way they could reasonably assume more people would be playing on next gen. 100 million ps4's vs a brand new console generation in the middle of a pandemic.

if someone higher up knew the game wasn't ready, why did they let it release?

$$$

had to get their game out before christmas, no matter how unfinished it is. they kept setting release dates and every time they had to delay their stock dropped.

don't ask me why they kept setting unrealistic release dates, but it came to a point where they couldn't delay the game anymore as it was devaluing the company which annoyed investors.

kinda hilarious when their teaser trailer published 8 years ago said it would release "when it's ready." this is what ready looks like... borderline unplayable and removed from the ps store.
