Inside info about the state of Blizzard.

Adding cosmetics and gameplay changes and bug fixing is what one should be doing? Like it would say that’s the minimal one should do to continually support the game? Then there’s the extra stuff that you do to make your game stand out (we’re talking about user experience and esports): new engine, better production, more marketing, higher player salaries, more sponsors, etc.

They are not upgrading the engine unless you can specify with more details about what exactly you’re talking about. If you want to add something new, you might need to modify the engine. They’re not actually spending resources a brand new engine. They actually took away graphics rendering upgrades like OpenGL 4.1 and Metal. We’re on OpenGL 2.1 now.

SC2 and D3 have been pretty irrelevant for a while now. They made their money back then. A company needs new cash cows. Heroes should be one of them considering the lucrative profits and growth the MOBA began to experience a few years ago.
