Inside NASA’s Mission Control room at the exact moment when the Challenger Space Shuttle broke apart mid-flight, 1986.

The reason ANY astronaut survives is because they know how to stay calm in a stressful situation, and they are backed up by an entire team who ALSO know how to stay calm in a stressful situation.

When SHTF, the last thing that is helpful is to react emotionally. These guys did exactly what they should, in order to give the people whose lives were in their hands, the best chance. In this case, there was no chance, but that doesn't change the fact that they reacted appropriately.

If you want to base your response to how you think people should react in a crises on scenes you've seen on the big screen, go watch Apollo 13 or Sully (both Tom Hanks movies...is this a coincidence?) and explain to me how an emotional response would have led to a better outcome than the calm, rational response they had.
