(Insider) Kiper & McShay: Debating top quarterbacks for 2018 NFL draft

Nah bro i totally disagree that Baker Mayfield is the Colts' best option in any case whatsoever.

I don't think the Colts should draft Jarret Stidham OR Mayfield.

The Stidham-Mayfield debate isn't really a big debate, I agree with you that Mayfield is a better college football player. But Stidham i believe is better suited for an NFL style offense. Indeed, he's so good at running a pass first, short-passing to medium passing offense that my school Auburn changed their ENTIRE offense from a spread, jet sweeps read option with deep balls offense, to a power running west coast offense with occasional wildcat with Kerryon in the Redzone.

Mayfield is more of a Matthew Stafford whereas Stidham is more of a Sam Bradford. Both are good players.

But the Colts!? I mean, c'mon man! A) we have a top 5 QB in the NFL. B) Why the fuck would we waste a draftpick on a QB when we have MASSIVE HOLES at OL, WR3, RB, ILB, and CB, and could use extra depth at interior DL and pass rush OLBs?! C) Jacoby Brissett is on his rookie contract and may very well be a starting caliber NFL QB. He is certainly the best NFL backup QB, after Garropolo was traded to the niners.

The ONLY WAY i see us getting a qb in the 2018 drsft is if all of these things happen: one, Luck's career ends due to the shoulder injury. Two, we trade Brissett for a high first round draft pick (browns? Jets?). Three, we select the QB in the 4th round or later.

Those three things must ALL happen for us to draft a qb. It's not gonna happen. The most likely scenario is big dick ballard shoring up the D and the OL in every round after the First round, and in the First, either getting a superstar like Saquon Barkley/Ridley etc, OR trading back from our inevitable top 10 pick to the late twenties in order to snag an extra 2nd, 3rd and 4th or something, or maybe an extra 2019 first like the Texans or Cheifs traded for their QBs.
