Instead of subtitles saying “dramatic music” or whatever, they actually have the musical notation playing at the bottom of the screen.

Subtitles often reference the music for a second and then move back to dialogue, there are plenty of scenes where the music is important but there’s still dialogue.

And honestly it’s so ridiculous to insinuate that people would somehow just pick up how to read music from seeing it in subtitles.

By that logic just flash other languages on the screen with absolutely no indication as to what it means and we’ll surely learn. Even knowing that what I’m seeing is a G# is not enough to imagine it for anyone but properly trained musicians. I’ve played music for over 15 years and I still wouldn’t be able to imagine it any better than “dramatic music”.
