Intel Enables ECC Memory on Consumer Alder Lake CPUs

Why restrict it to a single chipset? If B450 can, why can't Zxxx too?

  • Processor Manufacturers: Narrows market segregation between Consumer and Enterprise
  • Mobo Manufacturers: Higher cost of validation, lower demand
  • Memory Manufacturers: 9/8 increased cost eats into margin between Manufacturer and the consumer: OEMs

The only way we're going to see progress is for consumer-facing media to spread awareness. But with the amount of tech writers confounding MT/s with Mhz, yeah, I wouldn't count on it. Each actor steps on another's toes if they step out of line.

I predict the processor manufacturer perceiving itself at a disadvantage will be more likely to stir the pot.
