I understand that you’re trying to stay “clean,” but my best advice is to get comfortable with the idea that you could contract it. If this isn’t someone you could picture spending years with, I don’t recommend moving forward. It will save you a lot of tears and future resentment should you contract it. Because while we can throw stats at you left and right, there is no way to predict what will happen.

However, you should always know that the risk is very low considering they’re aware of their condition and if they’re using protection and medication it’s even lower. My partner and I have been together for four years and he is yet to show any symptoms.
