iPhone 7 was the best selling phone in the world for first half of 2017.

Agreed. Enthusiast have their own lenses.

However, Apple’s iPhones are priced at the higher end of Spectrum so most people on a budget will settle for something less.

Your argument is wrong on the basis that you think people want updates=people will buy iPhones (because updates)= iPhone’s market share should increase.

Realise the fact that people appreciate and like updates, but updates isn’t the ONLY reason they’d chose a phone. Price, the MOST important factor is the one they think about.

In India, iPhone SE is available for $250, and sells better than any other Android in the same price range. However, iPhone is priced higher than the competition and yet sells better than Samsung or any other OEM in similar price range. This entire thread is a proof of that.

Then you start comparing 500+ Androids with one iPhone, compare the phones in same price range. That’s why your argument falls apart.

If anything, this implies that if Apple ever decides to make mid range and lower range phones, people would buy it in a blink. It doesn’t. And because it sells only a limited number of phones, that too at a very high price, the market share is lower.
