Iran said on Sunday the London attacks were a "wake-up call" and urged Western states to go after ideological and financial sources of terrorism, state media reported, in a thinly veiled reference to Saudi Arabia.

This is disingenuous. Slavery was abolished in Iran in 1929, years before the current government took control.

Alright, so you're saying the current more religious government would have achieved the same verdict without outside pressure? The only reason it took Saudi Arabia so long is because it was a pretty irrelevant country in the past other than for it's oil.

Equally, Iran's human rights record is miles ahead of KSA. Trans people in Iran don't get tortured to death.

The transgender people who were allegedly tortured to death are certainly a testament to how backwards KSA is, but that was done by the police outside the law. The transgender group was arrested and fined. What would have happened in Iran? They'll be forced to choose between a sex change or execution? Yup that's truly MILES ahead of KSA. Give me a break. Let's compare Iran to literally any other middle-eastern country, and let's then see how MILES ahead they really are. Ignoring that KSA is a pretty low bar, you truly exaggerate the difference in their human rights record.

Women in Iran are free to vote and stand for election. Speaking of which, there are actually elections in Iran, where people (men and women) can vote and change the way the country is run, unlike in KSA, where the closes thing to a parliament is an assembly appointed by the king, where women and men are physically separated.

First, in KSA women are now allowed to vote as men. Second, yes Iran IS more democratic than Saudi Arabia, I completely agree. However, that doesn't carry any implications regarding how good their laws or foreign policy are. Also, their democracy can be quite troublesome at times since there are many checks and balances to insure that the religious clergy remain in power. Saudi Arabia in theory could be more flexible to change, but the general mentality in KSA's population is more backwards than Iran.
