The US of 2019 makes the US of 1990 look like a mosquito... I mean in the first gulf war the US was using unarmored Humvees and pretty much stock F-16s with mostly unguided bombs and garbage cruise missiles. The cyber warfare capability was next to nothing. Drones were also practically nonexistent.

Keep in mind Iran's economy has been pretty stagnant for much of the past 20 years due to sanctions. The rest of the world has developed much faster. Iran is a little bit similar to North Korea in that respect. They have an absolutely gargantuan military in terms of nominal manpower and sheer amount of explosive material, but very little capability to actually effect anything in a non-chaotic and suicidal way outside of blackmail.
