Iraq war, 2003 [960x720]

So were the thin-skinned personnel carriers that the German Army used in WWII. It still worked well, because speed counts for more in a mobile war of conquest. The speed of the American advance and the precision of the American weaponry is what destroyed the Iraqi Army in 2003.

Except eventually that mobile war of conquest turned into a guerilla war.

American tanks didn't even get return fire from Iraqi tanks that they popped kilometres away.

How is that related to Humvees entering direct action against Iraqi guerrilla forces?

Bradleys with thin aluminium armour massacred Iraqi MBTs. Just like German light tanks and mobile forces massacred Soviet T-34s and KV-1 behemoths in the opening stages of Barbarossa.

How is that related to Humvees entering direct action against Iraqi guerrilla forces? You are talking about vehicles that are armored to an extent that they don't need to worry about small arms fire and could reasonably be expected to engage in direct action against tanks.

USSR didn't go to a total war again, not sure what alt-history fantasy you're talking about. Police actions in satellite states obviously don't impact you like a total war does.

Afghanistan?
