Irish peacekeeping soldier killed on duty in Lebanon

This is incredibly sad. My sincerest condolences to their family, friends and colleagues.

We're quick to knock ourselves in Ireland and we often joke about our Defence Forces. But the respect they command from their international counterparts and the communities they protect is so impressive and inspiring. I am incredibly proud of every single man and woman who serves in Oglaigh Na hEireann. When I see footage or pictures of a soldier in his/her Blue Beret with the Ireland flash on their upper arm.......nothing makes me prouder to be Irish.

My Dad was a soldier and I am hugely proud of him. by the time he retired he would have spent many years away I had the pleasure of spending 2 years in the Middle East so I've seen first hand what they do.
