Iron Gold

There’s a few points worth mentioning:

Golds for one are literally human war machines. The transition from primitive “humans” through genetic modification put emphasis on increasing human traits that are glorified in battle: strength, agility, intelligence etc.

Society at large but especially in the Rim follows a very eastern-like warrior culture that mimics the bushido code, similar to ancient China/Japan; while the Core is much more inline with Ancient Greece/Sparta culture. It wouldn’t fit the narrative of the warrior ideal if robots did the fighting instead of humans.

There’s a similar argument to be made for the Obsidians and Greys, though I think it’s more self explanatory. If you’re following the same trajectory Obsidians hold similar (regarding the warrior ideal) to primitive Native Indian cultures. Even Greys to an extent have their own warrior culture, though it could be argued it’s more inline with traditional military thinking than a specific cultural example.
