That is so degrading, and so rude. I am so sorry he treated you like that - I don't understand why... I'm so proud of you though - for being so certain that you would never follow through on your thoughts and not wanting to hurt your family. The bravest thing you can do is go on! I am encouraged, and I'm sorry the counsellor was so discouraging. Relationships are not everything, in fact, they aren't even that important. Having a good bunch of friends around you to support you is what you need in the end. I hope you have that.

I'm also in the psych ward but am thankful nothing like this has happened yet - adult psych wards are a bit different, but the staff still always have the potential to be rude/hurtful. I hope you're able to get out soon and enjoy life!
