Irritated with Geeksquad Service

No problem :)

I will say though, the better speech skills you have the more effective it seems to be. Some of my colleagues tried this approach and failed miserably at it. The advice I gave them was to talk to themselves lol.

Seriously though, my dad sold timeshare my whole life and what he would do at home or in the car is imagine himself in various situations and rehearse the conversation/script. As a child, I thought this was normal since I grew up with it and would often put myself in scenarios of whatever cartoon I was watching, having theoretical conversations with the characters and sometimes offering a better way to do whatever it was they were doing. That got some odd looks for sure. This also helped me master reverse psychology at an early age, such as switching from "Can I go to my friend's house" to "I'm going to my friend's house, ok? I noticed that using the former, they could be thinking about something deeply and say no without even hearing it. But with the latter, it creates the situation in their mind as already happening, but yet they still have the authority to stop it if they desire. Needless to say, I found myself going to my friends' houses more often.

As I got into the work force I started doing it with various scenarios that came up on a regular basis - like seeing known forms of malware like PC Optimizer Pro or seeing the "Operating System not found" message. I would practice all kinds of responses to the same question or reply that I would usually get from a customer, that way when the situation came up the next time I had a ready conversation in my arsenal.

Taking it a step further, when in these conversations you obviously deal with different people, and those are going to require different conversations. Even the same people coming back for the same issues are going to require continuations. So I would practice what I would say if I saw them come back. The benefit? You get a lot better at improvising your conversations and being able to take what is said in stride, while continuing forward.

Now your speech actually becomes its own skillset. You begin to use it for other situations such as dating or getting a job. I have several friends and family members that have seen me apply for many places in several weeks, get one call for an interview, then come home with the job. Matter of fact, there are only two interviews to my recollection that I didn't get the job. Also, not to brag or anything, but I am pretty smooth with the ladies. ;)

I'm only 25 mind you but keep in mind that most people begin doing this type of thing around this time, give or take, whereas I've been doing it pretty much since I could talk. This is why I found that I did a lot better with the older customers than a lot of my colleagues as well.

So I offer this up to you as words of wisdom for something I know. Use it well. :)
