I feel like if Fletch wants to prove why he’s the guy, he has to pull a move like this. Not sure there’s much of a change from what Hexy would have done so far. I really believe if the Flyers missed the playoffs last season, Hex would have finally moved on from Hak. I also think he would have upgraded defense, but probably would have kept Gudas. I think he would have made some move there with all the cap space he created. Not sure he would have made a move at Hayes (though he feels like a guy Hex still would be interested in) but he would have at least gotten a 3rd line center.

I think to separate himself, Fletch needs to finish building the defense. Hagg isn’t going to cut it at 6th dman.

Obviously this is all speculation and I could be way off but with the pieces he has, Fletch shouldn’t leave any glaring holes on the roster. 3RW will still be a hole but I’d be fine with having the players in the system battling out for it.
