He has to pay the basics like food, water and shelter. But many are doing 50/50 split everything. If not that then traditional. Depends on each person.

Does he have to pay for her health insurance? What about luxuries like designer bags and makeup? Does he have to buy her a car?

Tbh if he doesn't do it, he will not be questioned for it but that all depends. For example she's sick then he has to pay her insurance etc. If she's a housewife and she needs to pick up/drop kids then buying her a car is wiser decision. If it's a 50/50 split then she'll pay for her own. It all comes down to what agreements/roles they chose to agree to do before marriage and what route they prefer to go. Also if it's a 50/50 then everything has to be 50/50.
