My comments weren't really about the lack of representation in the workplace or anything like that. I actually agree with your assessment about women broadly not choosing jobs with long work hours (same goes for jobs with less workplace safety, likelihood to relocate etc) and these things building a picture of why a lot of these industries appear male dominated

My point is more about how the women in those jobs are generally treated. An example would be that at workplace parties, female colleagues are generally expected to pour the drinks and act servile even if their actual job role has absolutely nothing to do with that.
