Why isn't Red Pocket Mobile more critically acclaimed here?

Yes they do have the advantage of all 4 networks and dirt cheap prices - especially their annual plans on ebay/amazon and their $10/$15 a month plans. The ones over $20 aren't as competitive and probably what many on r/nocontract are looking at. Redpocket gets attention on howardforums.

What you don't get are all the bells and whistles. For example I am on verizon - no voLTE, no roaming, no visual voicemail, throttled to 5Mbps (though I seem to only get 3Mbps). Those on ATT will have issues with MMS on iphones. etc

Customer service is hit and miss and their systems can be a bit buggy. But I've not experienced any issues myself.

At the end of the day I have a plan that I paid only $55 for a YEAR. I get 100mins, 100texts and 500mb LTE a month on verizon for 12 months. That is fantastic value. That is as much as I will need so it works great.

Others though want something a little more reliable with more features. Mintsim is very good at $15 a month and the $30 a month space is crowded with good mvnos.
