Why isn't "reverse" racism just called racism?

Unfortunately, that is not the case. The whole "minorities can't be racist" idea is a widespread movement in both academia and online opinion. Google 'can minorities be racist' (no quotes) and look through the first page of results. It's all about how "reverse racism doesn't actually exist" because "by definition, minorities can't be racist against white people". What I said is not a misconstrued representation of this [unfortunately] common argument.

If this was merely about systematic racism, I'd be in agreement with you, because I do think that is a valid issue society still struggles with.

But this isn't about that. There is a full-fledged movement attempting to redefine 'racism' so that it only applies exclusively to white people's treatment of minority groups, not vise versa.
