IUD Partially Expelled, 17F

I removed my own IUD (28F). One day I checked for the strings, and could feel over an inch (probably more like two). I knew it was not in, because the strings were cut so short that I couldn't feel them when it was inserted. Just two fingers, or finger and thumb if you can, bear down like you are trying to poop, and a gentle tug will release it. Check the device and make sure it is intact (eg no broken/missing) pieces. Obviously only advisable if you are comfortable with that. Yes, NPs can remove IUDs. You may wish to look into a smalled bodied IUD/IUS, as being young and assuming never had children makes it more likely your uterus will expel it.
