Getting your ideal relationship on the first try is hard, hell many don’t in their life time. Need to obviously prioritize and communicate with him.

As for the gaming stuff, most games can be played online and using discord to talk, dont see why you cant reliably play with him unless you guys are exclusively playing single player games.

You can always show your bf some notable popular stuff. Miyazaki animations and old school anime like akira, cowboy bebop are usually liked by many viewers. It can ease him into the anime culture. Even as an anime fan, i find some of the recent series to be bland.

If it was a “small” thing, then not worth thinking too hard on it. Not trying to play devils advocate, i just think the way a person words their thoughts reflects what they truly believe even if rushed in typing it.
