I've been a "good" cop for a long time and now I'm ready to get out. Ask me whatever you want.

see this is it. this conversation you just had with some random on the internet exemplifies exactly the problem people have with police right now. every time criticism is leveled it is meet with this defensive and abrasive "don't tell me how to do my job" response that does nothing to address the actual criticism itself and only serves to escalate the confrontational nature of the conversation, though why its a confrontational conversation in the first place is beyond me.

and here's the flaw with that response. fact's don't change based on the person that says them. If Hitler told you that eating healthy staying fit and not smoking tobacco were excellent ways to live a healthy and long life, it's not suddenly bad advice because Hitler said it. So to with criticism, just because its a food service worker(a term which you used to discredit the imaginary critics of your conversation with fearlo) leveling a critique doesn't effect the validity or lack of validity of the critique, the critique itself has or doesn't have validity of its own right. It can certainly be said and it should be considered that a food service worker know's less about policing than a police officer but if you have to resort to discrediting the source of your criticism rather than addressing the critique itself than that critique probably has some merit.

and since im already on a bit of a rant here i'll throw in the 2 cents of a bystander of the "militarization of police" topic. there sure are allot of military personnel and veterans questioning the tactics and techniques of police departments accross the country. the phrase "never point a gun at something you don't intend to shoot" used to be a marine motto(or maybe army, idk i'm not a soldier) and the concept of trigger discipline used to be mainly discussed in firearm safety classes but now i've seen and heard these things everywhere from facebook to CNN. As i said i'm not a soldier and im not a cop but from watching the news it seems like the people who know about this kind of thing have some worries and maybe even some valid criticisms.
