I've been sober for two months and I survived my office Christmas party last night.

Congrats! One thing I have noticed is that rational people won’t really care that you are not drinking! You might feel self conscious, but most people won’t notice that your just drinking water, too preoccupied with their own drinks. Those that do notice generally don’t broach or push the subject too deep. I think most people realize there can be some very serious personal reasons for avoiding alcohol, so they don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable by digging into the reason you are choosing to be sober. I noticed this with my wife, when she was pregnant. She wasn’t ready to tell everyone yet, but obviously had to avoid alcohol. She was worried people would push her for why she isn’t drinking. No one ever bothered her for it, though.
