Exciting!

We completed about six weeks ago, and to be honest, beyond what you've already got I can't think of anything that took me by surprise.

Definitely say hi to the neighbours - it was easy for us since it was Christmas so we just put a card through everyone's door! Got quite a few back and several people came to introduce themselves to us. Making those initial introductions is nice though, because it gets harder after you've been there for a while and still not said hi.

Give everything a good inspection to check for hidden sins. We found loads of rat or squirrel droppings in the loft which had been hidden for the survey by flipping the insulation over (cheeky).

Don't forget council tax, even if you're in the same borough you need to update your address.

If you even just think you might want messy things doing, do it before decorating. Consider getting Cat6 cabling in, extra plugs, etc before painting.
